Jus’ Jazz

Welcome to Jus’ Jazz, your best alternative source of information pertaining to classic contemporary and main stream straight ahead jazz. This website is devoted to those collectible artists whose influence epitomized the music's value as “America’s most original art form.” From a historical perspective, jazz aficionados, beginners and connoisseurs alike are provided with an opportunity to acquaint themselves with  jazz's inherent body of artistic impressionism. Realizing jazz is an acquired taste and not for the faint of heart, Jus' Jazz is devoted to turning you on to music you would love to hear. Look to Jus’ Jazz for exposure to the equivalent of the Bach's, Beethoven's, Dvorak's and Revel's of jazz, referencing those obscure artists and musicians who do not appear on the most prominent of jazz charts.

Between the 1920s and well into the 1950s many have said those were jazz's most formative years, during a time when thousands of albums were recorded; since the 1960s, there has been a steady decline in the music's overall appeal as well as album sales. In the decades since, only the more commercially viable jazz recordings have been given a level of popular exposure. Iconic individuals such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Kirk, Lester Young, Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers seldom see the light of day. Jus' Jazz highlights those artists that are meant to enhance any jazz collection or music library. Jazz beginners are provided with information to make intelligent decisions regarding the type of jazz they would love to hear. No matter what level of interest pursued, jazz that is not heard over the airwaves and is often misconstrued as to urban, third tier or not commercial enough can now get the level of exposure the music deserves.

Although jazz has a 100-plus year history that is filled with the influences of African and European culture, the roots of jazz are etched in the traditional practices of Afro-Cuban, blues and gospel music. As more and more retail outlets, radio stations and resources for jazz music go the way of the dinosaur, Jus’ Jazz serves as a viable source of information regarding " America's most original art form."
